Stan Lee Files For Restraining Order Against Business Manager
Stan Lee has filed for a restraining order against his business manager, who was arrested Monday on suspicion of filing a false police report.
The action comes only days after the 95-year-old Marvel Comics legend posted a video on Twitter in which he declared that Keya Morgan is his only partner and business manager, and that all others were making false claims. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the restraining-order request with Los Angeles Superior Court.
Morgan was released on $20,000 bail following the charge, which may be connected to the report from early this month that Lee was confronted by two gunmen outside his home. Morgan, characterized in his Twitter profile as “co-creator with Stan Lee,” is a collector of pop-culture memorabilia who in recent months has become Lee’s primary caregiver.
Lee signed a declaration in February that three men, including Morgan, had attempted to take advantage of his daughter J.C. Lee in an attempt to “gain control over my assets, property and money.” But in April, when the declaration came to light, along with accusations of physical and psychological elder abuse by his daughter, Lee angrily denied the allegations in a video record by Morgan, and threatened to sue anyone who made such claims.
Joan Lee, Stan Lee’s wife of 70 years, passed away in December at age 93. Since then, one of Lee’s associates has been accused of stealing $300,000 from his bank account, and using $850,000 of his money to buy a condominium. The same person is alleged to have forged an order for a nurse to draw “several vials” of Lee’s blood, which a recent report suggests was used to create ink to sign comic books. Lee also filed a $1 billion lawsuit against his former entertainment company POW! Entertainment.
Lee has also been accused of sexual misconduct, which his attorney has dismissed as part of an extortion scheme.
