Hawkeye's Tattoos In Avengers: Endgame Tease Ronin Transformation
Hawkeye's tattoos in Avengers: Endgame tease his turn into Ronin, and the movie's expected time jump. Jeremy Renner's Clint Barton has not received as much screen time as the rest of the original Avengers members, but that should change with Avengers: Endgame. He was completely absent from Avengers: Infinity War, so Marvel Studios wasted no time showing him and his new look in the marketing for its followup.
One of the most exciting aspects of Barton's role in Avengers: Endgame for fans is that he'll leave his bow and arrows behind momentarily to take on the Ronin persona, just as he did in the comics. This transformation only happens on the page after a tragedy and has led many to theorize that the rest of the Barton family disappeared during the snap. Beyond just wearing a new black and gold costume, there's a few other changes to Barton's look that may provide some intriguing clues about the plot.
In the newest Screen Rant video, we take a look at Barton's new look in Avengers: Endgame, but specifically his tattoos. It was recently shown that his left arm is completely covered with an intricate design. These are the only tattoos we know about so far, but they actually tease the samurai lifestyle he's chosen. Additionally, they further tease a time jump will take place, as it would take several appointments to get that detailed of a sleeve and for them all to be properly healed. Check out the video at the top of this post for the full breakdown.
Even though Barton is going to put on the Ronin costume in Avengers: Endgame and has a tattoo to symbolize this transformation, it doesn't appear that he'll stick with this look for long; most of the scenes he's been featured in during the trailers show him in a new Hawkeye costume and back with his trust bow and arrows. This has even been the case on most of the posters too, so Avengers: Endgame may only give fans a few minutes of the Ronin look unfortunately.
Whatever costume he will be wearing, it does appear that Barton won't become truly involved in Avengers: Endgame's plot until some time has passed. Not only does this give him time to get the tattoos and figure out a new look to fight the Yakuza in Japan with, but also so he has time to grieve. Once he does rejoin the rest of the heroes and join the fight against Thanos, we can't wait to see how he puts his skills to use next.
