EXCL: Marvel’s Original Symbiote Teams with Eddie Brock in Venom: The First Host

Eddie Brock wasn’t the first human to bond with a Klyntar symbiote, and no – neither was Spider-Man. Before Venom, and before Spidey found the symbiote in the original Secret Wars, other Klyntar aliens made their way to Earth.

In Venom #1 (LGY #166), in a scene involving the legendary Norse hero Beowulf, we saw warriors being mercilessly slaughtered by a symbiote, one whose language appears foreign even to longtime Marvel readers. We subsequently learned that this was the actual first meeting between human and Klyntar.

Of course, there’s a lot more to this story than we saw in that flashback sequence, and while that story will likely unfold in the main Venom title, in August’s Venom: The First Host, Mike Costa and Mark Bagley will reveal what happens when the First Host makes its presence known in the modern world. What’s more, the five-issue series will show what happens when the First Host asks Venom for help in saving not only the world, but the entire galaxy.

Check out the first issue’s cover and solicitation description below, and come back to CBR later for more on Venom: The First Host.
