Doomsday Clock #5 Preview Sees Comedian Terrorize Gotham’s Finest

Doomsday Clock #5 Preview Sees Comedian Terrorize Gotham’s Finest

Things are beginning to heat up in Doomsday Clock #5, and a preview of the issue features the Comedian being surrounded by two Gotham City police officers. Of course, the Comedian could care less, as he takes a puff of his cigar and calmly walks past the stunned lawmen.

Doomsday Clock #5 was originally intended to be released on May 23, but an update to the DC Comics website moved the issue to June 20. However, it appears as though that was a mix-up, with a new release date of May 30 announced. Writer Geoff Johns addressed the confusion on his Twitter and released a few preview pages of artist Gary Frank’s drawings for the latest issue.

“Gary [Frank] and I are working diligently to deliver a thought-provoking and beautifully drawn series that’s unlike anything else on the shelves today,” Johns said in a statement. “It’s incredibly important to us to keep up the quality of Doomsday Clock, but also to deliver it on the bimonthly schedule and we intend to keep our word. Issue #5 will begin the countdown for the DC Universe as the worlds of the Watchmen and DC collide full-on. Expect to see characters known and obscure step into the spotlight. And the strangest team-up you’ve ever seen.”

Debuting in November 2017, Doomsday Clock continues themes introduced in 2016’s DC Universe: Rebirth #1 and in the subsequent crossovers Superman Reborn and The Button. It serves as a direct sequel to Watchmen, the seminal 1986-1987 comic series by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons.
