Unknown Soldier was created by writer Robert Kanigher and artist Joe Kubert for Our Army at War #168 in 1966. Initially depicted as a supporting character for Sgt. Rock, the original Unknown Soldier was a disfigured World War II soldier with his face wrapped heavily in bandages who eventually became a wartime master of disguise.
After receiving his own solo title running from Star Spangled War Comics #151 through #204, the character later starred in two separate Vertigo series. Most recently, a new incarnation of Unknown Soldier was seen during the New 52 era, appointed as the leader of the Suicide Squad by Amanda Waller.
Damage #8 will be available for purchase on Aug. 15.
